Area Of Application:
- As a primer of epoxy based coatings, self-levelling and screed topping applications.
Method of Application
Surface Preparation
- Thorough surface preparation is a must for best results. Mechanical methods are strongly recommended such as,
mechanical scarification, grit/sand/shot blasting etc. The substrate must not suffer from rising dampness with more
than a moisture content of 5%. Small areas for application can be acid etched mildly, followed by cleaning & washing
off with a water jet and then mopping to a dry condition.
- In substrates where oil & grease has penetrated deeply, use of a flame torching to burn off the oil, acid etching, etc., shall
be done followed by a detergent wash. In cases where the contamination is deep seated, mechanical means must be
adopted to remove the substrate upto the extent of penetration. Depending on the extent of removal, suitable methods
of floor reinstatement of the substrate, may be adopted.
Mixing
- Add the entire contents of the hardener into the base and mix with a slow speed drill attached to a mixing paddle to get a
homogeneous mix.
Application
- The mixed material must be applied by a brush or roller on a prepared surface thoroughly in a thin continuous film.
- Another coat must be applied if characteristic dry patches are seen on the substrate due to high porosity of the surface.
This ensures good adhesion but also prevents air release from porous substrates which may cause bubbles after
laying epoxy topping subsequently.
- The primer must be left overnight to dry before the application of Dr. Fixit Pidipoxy ESL or Dr. Fixit Pidipoxy EC. For the
application of Dr. Fixit Epoxy Floor Screed, the primer must reach a tacky state.
Precautions & Limitations
- Recommended application temperature between 100C to 400C.
- Excess application and puddling should be avoided.
- Wear gloves and goggles during application
- Use within 30 min of mixing at 300C
- Do not expose to naked flame or other source of ignition
