Areas of Application
- Reinstatement of spalled concrete to R.C.C. members like beams, columns, wall, slab etc
Method of Application
- Expose fully any corroded steel in the repair area and remove all scale and corrosion deposits mechanically or ideally by grit blasting
- Clean the surface and remove loose concrete, any dust, oil paint, grease etc
- Pre wet the surface with water and allow it dry slightly.
- Apply Dr. Fixit Zinc Primer over the cleaned re-bars & allow to dry before continuing.
- The substrate should be primed by applying one neat / clear coat of Dr. Fixit Pidicrete MPB.
- For normal application use 3.25 to 3.5 litres of potable water per 25 kg. bag of Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX. First add polymer into water
and mix for 2 minutes. Then add powder slowly and mix for 3 minutes till homogeneous mix is obtained. Mixing must be done with a forced
action mixer
- Apply the mix Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX to the prepared substrate by hand when primer becomes tacky. Ensure that the material has
reached evenly behind bars.
- Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX can be applied from 10 to 15 mm thickness in a single application.
- Built up required thickness in layers of 15 mm accompanied with bonding agent
- Mild cure the prepared surface with water for 3 days
Precautions & Limitations
- For a repair thickness more than 20 mm, bond coat is recommended before applying next layer
- Minimum thickness to be 10 mm
- For cold conditions upto 5oC, warm water upto 30oC must be added, to help Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX quickly gain strength.
- Strictly maintain water powder ratio
- Only use mechanical device for mixing, avoid hand mixing at site
- Use Dr. Fixit Epoxy Bonding Agent for critical applications
- In case of reduction in rebar size, consult local structural engineer.
- Do not add sand or cement in Dr. Fixit Polymer Mortar PX at site
