Surface preparation
The concrete surface shall be thoroughly roughened and cleaned using mechanical means to remove all dirt, dust and loose material. Vacuum assisted shot blast, scarifying machine or any other suitable means to ensure a proper key between the substrate and the topping. In case vacuum de-watered floors are uneven then dry grinding the surface prior to any surface preparation will help in improving finish of the topping. It shall be ensured that the moisture content in the floor shall be less than 4% by using suitable moisture detection techniques. Joint Filling/ Repair
The construction joints shall be raked open and filled with resin rich epoxy mortar. Broken edges shall first be repaired using Epoxy mortar and left to cure for 24 hours. The joints shall then be filled using resin rich epoxy mortar. Proper masking of the edges shall be ensured for neat finish of the joints.
