Surface preparation

The concrete surface shall be thoroughly roughened and cleaned using mechanical means to remove all dirt, dust and loose material. Vacuum assisted shot blast, scarifying machine or any other suitable means to ensure a proper key between the substrate and the topping. In case vacuum de-watered floors are uneven then dry grinding the surface prior to any surface preparation will help in improving finish of the topping. It shall be ensured that the moisture content in the floor shall be less than 4% by using suitable moisture detection techniques. Joint Filling/ Repair

The construction joints shall be raked open and filled with resin rich epoxy mortar. Broken edges shall first be repaired using Epoxy mortar and left to cure for 24 hours. The joints shall then be filled using resin rich epoxy mortar. Proper masking of the edges shall be ensured for neat finish of the joints.

Priming

Pidipoxy EP mixed to proportion should be applied using short knap rollers or trowels over the thoroughly prepared surface. The primer shall be tack free before the application of the topping

Mixing

Pidipoxy ESL shall be made ready for application in the following sequence. Mechanical stirrer shall be used while preparing the floor topping system

• Mix the resin and pigment component thoroughly
• Add hardener component while mixing
• 3. Empty the entire fillers supplied in a pack into the resin/hardener and pigment mixture while continuously stirring the mixture.
  A heavy-duty slow speed (400 to 500 RPM) mixer with suitable paddle attachment shall be used for the same. The mixing shall be done for 5 minutes till homogeneous mix is obtained .

Application

Pidipoxy ESL shall then be spread over the tack free primer using serrated trowels and then rolled using spike rollers to remove any entrapped air. The system shall then be left to cure after ensuring proper protection around the area covered with epoxy flooring system.
