Swimming Pool Slab and Walls
The waterproofing material shall be using Dr. Fixit Krystalline and Dr. Fixit Pidifn 2K. Dr. Fixt Krystalline is cement based crystalline system, which contains active chemicals that crystallizes on coming in contact with free lime and moisture.
Dr. fixt Pidifin 2K is a 2-part polymer modified cementitious flexible coating. The coating shall have sufficient flexibility to accommodate the movements in the fine crack and shall withstand negative water pressure.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be applied upon, must be clean, reasonably dry, free form dirt and loose material, and be as smooth as possible. All voids and pinholes shall be filled using a non-shrink grout material. A proper fall / slope should be provided to allow standing water to drain. Ponding should not be present.
25 mm x 25 mm angle fillets of non-shrink mortar should be placed at the intersection of all vertical and horizontal surfaces and changes of direction to from a cant for the waterproofing membrane to turn up.
Waterproofing Application
Application of Crystalline system
As soon as the casting of RCC base slab and walls is over, apply Dr. Fixit Krystalline over the entire cleaned surface at the rate of 12 to 14 sft per kg of mixed material per coat. Apply 2nd coat after 3 to 4 hours at the same rate. The 5 parts of Krystalline powder shall be mixed with 2 parts of water to get a homogenous mix. The care shall be taken to saturate the surface before application of Krystalline product.
The coating shall be allowed to penetrate into the concrete surface for at least 3 weeks; during this period water curing shall be done.
The surface shall be once again cleaned using wire brush to remove the residual Krystalline from the surface after 3 weeks.
Grouting of cold joints
All the construction joints in walls shall be grouted with cement slurry admixed with expansive additive Dr. Fixit Pidicrete AM at the rate of 225 gms per bag of cement at 500 mm c/c distance using suitable injection grouting pump. The grouting nozzles shall be removed after the grouting is over and shall be finished using polymer-modified mortar.
Application of Pidifn 2K waterproof coating
Apply by brush or roller a coat of Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2k a polymer modified cementitious seamless waterproofing membrane at a rate of 2 to 3 square meter per kg to all required areas, at a thickness of 500 – 600 microns.
Lay 200-micron glass fiber cloth uniformly over the 1st coat of Pidifin 2K when it is dtill wet. Allow it to dry for 4 to 6 hours.
Apply second coat in the opposite direction at the same rate. The total thickness of waterproof coating shall not be less than 1.2 mm at any point. The treatment shall be left as it is for 72 hours for air cure before carrying out further work.
The care shall be taken to apply the coating in the internals of drain out let pipes.
